Could anything have stopped the Marina Safeway ‘behemoth’?

A popular news topic this month, Mission Local offers further insight about the proposed 25-story redevelopment of the Marina Safeway site, and what local government could, or could not, have done to try and thwart that project.

Emily Brough, a shareholder at Z &F, was quoted commenting on the complexity of the the ever-evolving State housing development laws and their impact:

“I don’t have a personal view on this particular project, but I think it’s an example of how powerful the law is . . . . The point is to build more housing, and that is what is being done. It will be upsetting in some circumstances and applauded in others. This is a perfect example of both of those things.”
