Mark B. Chernev’s practice focuses on San Francisco real estate litigation, including property disputes, landlord/tenant law, and planning and land use. He has represented clients in controversies concerning homeowners’ associations, commercial and residential landowners, developers, landlord/tenant matters, and appeals. Additionally, he has extensive experience advising clients on property and financial issues unique to San Francisco.

Prior to joining Zacks and Freedman, Mark served as a Deputy Attorney General, where he handled high-profile and complex litigation matters. After leaving the Department of Justice in 2007, he relocated to the Bay Area where he has built upon his experience as both real estate attorney and investment property owner and has also served as an adjunct law professor. Mark is proud to be a San Francisco resident and to be directly involved in real property issues affecting his community. He enjoys outdoor activities, local history, spirited stories, and Giants baseball.
